Northern Europe has become a popular tourist destination in the past decade. Fortunately for me, I was stationed in Iceland four decades ago so I was able to experience the country without the hordes of tourists. Still, if you visit the popular places very early or in the evening when to tour busses are not there, you can get an idea of how things used to be. Norway has likewise been “discovered” along with the Faroe Islands, however there are plenty of magnificent locations in those countries. Then there is still a place few people venture to, Greenland. I would say, wholeheartedly, make the effort to visit, you will never regret it.
